Guitar series help:-

Java and Blackberry versions

Chords Module:-

* To find a chord, choose the 'Chords' icon or menu item and pick a chord type; or select the 'Options' menu at the bottom right of each chord screen and choose from the scolling menu.

* Use arrow keys, numbers or touch screen (if available on your device) to navigate & play chords or single notes. Scroll up or down for the next chord.

* Scroll across from left to right or use left arrow key, to hear and view each note. Select the yellow plectrum icon to play the complete chord, or use the 0 key.

* Use the white 7th, 8n and 9th buttons on the right hand side of chords screens where applicable, to move to 7th, root/relatve or 9th chords.

* Note names become visible when selected.

* Use Device keys 1-9 to select individual chord notes.

* Hitting the 0 key on chord screens will give advice on scales to match the chords you are using.

Keys 1-9 Key 0 also plays chord.

* Select key # or touch the help icon to get chords related help.

* Use star key to reset screen.

Scales Module:-

* To find a scale, choose the 'Scales' icon or menu item and pick a scale type; or select the 'Options' menu at the bottom right of each scale screen and choose from the scrolling menu.

* Use right/left arrow keys to move across the scale and hear notes, or use touch screen (if available) and touch the icons.

* Root notes are shown as light brown dots, Blues notes as blue dots. The whole scale can be played by selecting the yellow plectrum icon, or use the 0 key.

* Scroll up or down for the next scale.

* Fret numbers are shown on the left hand side of the fretboard.

* Device keys 1-8 can be used to play the first 8 notes of the scale pattern.

* Hitting the 0 key will give advice on scale/chord matching.

* Select key # or touch the help icon to get scales related help.

Circle of Chords Module:-

* The 'Circle of Chords' tool is based on the 'Circle of 5ths' and can be used to work out chords in any key.

* Use right arrow key or touchscreen to go clockwise and play chords harmonically a 5th apart, go anti(counter) clockwise to play chords harmonically a 4th apart.

* Use up/down keys or touch screen to move between the two circles.

* Inner circle contains relative minor keys, outer circle contains
major keys.

* Use Device keys 1-7 to play the 7 main chords within the key of C. key 1 = the 1st chord, this represents the first part of the scale. Key 2 = the 2nd (ie 2nd note of the scale), Key 3 = the 3rd, Key 4 = the 4th, Key 5 = the 5th, Key 6 = the 6th (or relative minor),Key 7 = the 7th.

* The circle has 3 sound modes, use the 'Options' menu to change mode. Mode 1: uses natural major and minor chords with a diminished chord on the 7th.

Mode 2: uses 7th chords i.e. Cmaj7th, Dmaj7th, Am7th etc.

Mode 3: uses 9th chords i.e. Cmaj9th, Dmaj9th, Am9th etc.

* Use the star key to 'reset' the screen.

* The number of sharps/flats for each key is shown between the two circles.

* Select key # or touch the help icon to get 'circle of chords' related help.

Fretboard Module:-

* Use up and down arrows or touchscreen to scroll the whole fretboard.

* Fret numbers are shown on the left hand side of the fretboard.

* Device keys 0-9 can be used to select low E string notes from the 1st - 9th frets.

Tunings Module:-

* Use right/left arrow keys to move across each tuner or use touch on screen (if available); scrolling across to play the sounds.

* Use the up/down arrow keys or swipe screen to move between the different tunings.

* Use the tuners to train your ear and learn to match the pitch of your guitar strings to the tuner pitches .

* After practice one should be able to notice and correct tuning inacuracies more easily.

* Regularly using this method of tuning your instrument can develop your pitch recognition and can help improve musicianship markedly.

* Tip: listen carefully to the beats (modulations) between the pitch of your guitar string and that of the tuner note. As you 'tune in' the beat will slow down as the guitar string and tuner pitch harmonise, as you move away from being in tune the beat will speed up, the beats disapear when the string and tuner are in tune.

* Select key # or touch the help icon to get tuner related help.

Chord Scales Module:-

* To find a chord scale, choose the 'Chords Scales' icon or menu item and pick a key; or select the 'Options' menu at the bottom right of each chord scale screen and choose from the scolling menu.

* Use arrow keys, numbers or touch screen (if available on your device) to navigate & play chords or single notes. Scroll up or down for the next chord in the scale.

* Scroll across from left to right or use left arrow key, to hear and view each note. Select the yellow plectrum icon to play the complete chord.

* Note names become visible when selected.

* Use Device keys 1-6 to select individual strings.

Key 1 = E Low(1st string), Key 2 = A(2nd string), Key 3 = D(3rd string), Key 4 = G(4th string), Key 5 = B(5th string)

Key 6 = E High(6th string), Key 0 Plays chord.

* Use star key to reset screen.

Keys and emotions Module:- (not yet available)

* To find a key and learn its characteristics and emotional qualities; choose the 'Emotions' icon or menu item and pick a key; or select the 'Options' menu at the bottom right of each emotions screen and choose from the scolling menu.

* Use arrow keys, numbers or touch screen (if available on your device) to navigate through the various keys. Scroll to the right on touch screens or use the right arrow key for the next description.
